Google and DoubleClick Make a Powerful Ad Network
Posted Under: Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing
Did you know that Google recently purchased DoubleClick for 3.1 billion dollars? Do you know what DoubleClick is and how it benefits Google? If you are an advertiser using adsense, you probably do. For the rest, let me try to explain.
Most of you probably know that Google Adsense is a way for advertisers and ad agencies to place ads on publisher’s websites and share the revenues when someone clicks on their ad and makes a purchase. Ever seen anything but a text ad with Google Adsense? No, and so enters DoubleClick. DoubleClick enables display advertising which now puts Google in competition with Yahoo who currently leads in the display ads race.
Google’s DoubleClick Ad Exchange is a marketplace where publishers and ad networks gather to trade for display ad space and display ads in real time. It’s no longer restricted to just Google Adwords advertisers.
Google has installed a Display Ad Builder in Adsense to help advertisers create their display ad campaigns. Publishers are able to choose from thousands of ads to select what fits best in a particular area of their website to maximize their earning potential. This gives advertisers more targeted marketing for their ad spend which should lead to higher returns.
The Ad Exchange also features metrics so that advertisers can measure the performance of their campaigns for effectiveness. They can also manage all their activities at one central site.
All in all, looks like a pretty good deal for everyone.
